Music for good: Palaver Strings
Palaver Strings is so much more than a Grammy-nominated string ensemble. It is a music school, a voice for social justice, an artistic engine.
Strewn Wonder has worked with this Portland-based, musician-led organization since 2019, first documenting creation of the group’s Welcome Home concert series, which melded the stories and music of Maine’s Franco-American, Rwandan, and Iraqi communities. Since then, Strewn Wonder has photographed the magic of Palaver’s after-school strings program, created a trailer for an album celebrating music written by women from the Renaissance to the modern day, captured a particularly powerful collaboration in the production of “Noisefloor,” and more.
